چکیده
Direct Sequence (DS) Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems are considered for a variety of wireless applications and services because DS-CDMA enables the transmission of multimedia messages such as voice, data and video. The performance of Quasisynchronous DS-CDMA (QSCDMA) communication system with a maximal ratio combiner (MRC) over a frequency selective time non-selective multipath Generalized Gamma fading channel is derived for not only any random / deterministic spreading sequences but also any chiplimited chip waveforms. Numerical and simulation results show that the performance of QS-CDMA is as good as or slightly better than synchronous CDMA (S-CDMA) when the maximum quasisynchronous delays do not need to be less than some specific values depending on the path power scattering. With this flexibility of quasisynchronous delays for the better performance, both the transmitter and receiver complexity is reduced as quasisynchronous communication is a challenging task for researchers. Lastly, a measure, Partial Power Ratio (PPR), is defined based on the partial autocorrelation functions, to select or design a chip waveform for quasisynchronous communication. Results show that QS-CDMA using the chip waveform whose PPR is greater, has better performance.

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)
In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...
متن کاملTight Upper Bound on the Bit Error Probability of Convolutionally Encoded Spread Spectrum Communication over Frequency-selective Rayleigh-fading Channels
A tight upper bound on the bit error probability of convolutionally encoded spread spectrum communication over frequency-selective Rayleigh-fading channels is derived. It is shown that combining coding and multipath propagation leads to a multiplication of time and multipath diversity. The main di erence between the two types of diversity is that in contrast to time diversity the multipath dive...
متن کاملMultistage interference cancellation with diversity reception for asynchronous QPSK DS/CDMA systems over multipath fading channels
A multistage interference cancellation (MIC) technique with diversity reception for QPSK asynchronous Direct-Sequence Code-Division Multiple-Access (DS/CDMA) systems over frequency-selective multipath Rayleigh fading channels is introduced. Unlike the previous MIC [1, 2], which tries to remove the lump sum of the multiple-access interference (MAI) and self-interference (SI), this introduced MIC...
متن کاملRICE UNIVERSITY Time-Selective Signaling and Reception for Communication over Multipath Fading Channels
The mobile wireless channel o ers inherent diversity by virtue of multipath and Doppler shifts. Multipath diversity is exploited via spread-spectrum signaling employed in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. However, the RAKE receiver commonly used in CDMA systems exploits only multipath diversity, and consequently su ers from signi cant performance degradation under fast fading. We de...
متن کاملPerformance of Direct-Oversampling Correlator-Type Receivers in Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems Over Frequency Non-selective Fading Channels
In this paper, we present a study on the performance of directoversampling correlator-type receivers in chaos-based Direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems over frequency non-selective fading channels. At the input, the received signal is sampled at a sampling rate higher than the chip rate. This oversampling step is used to precisely determine the delayed-signal compone...
